Sony’s packed a whole heap of technology into its new DualSense controller, but the impact on your wallet won’t be too extreme. The device will retail for $69.99 when it launches alongside the next-gen console later this year, which is up $10 compared to the $59.99 price of the PlayStation 4’s existing DualShock 4 controller. In Europe that translates to €69.99.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer dated the following peripherals as well:
- Pulse 3D Wireless Headset: $99.99/€99.99
- HD Camera: $59.99/€59.99
- Media Remote: $29.99/€29.99
- DualSense Charging Station: $29.99/€29.99
What do you make of these prices? Which of these accessories will you be picking up alongside your PS5 at launch? Let us know in the comments section below.

That’s too much. It needs to be $60.
Lol the title/subheader combination reads as "PS5's New DualSense Controller Will Cost $69.99
More than DualShock 4". I mean I can separate them by font and style but I did do a double take haha
That's too much imo, the build quality and the constant problems with sticks drifting on the ds4 annoys the hell out of me. I have had zero problems with the first controller that came with og PS4, but the revised version is pure trash, while they seem to have fixed the R2 power issue, the sticks get bad really quick.
The first controller lasted me 4 years, other 4 (! 60 euros each) broke down in between 1 !!!! Months to 8 months. That is pathetic
Seems fair for the additional tech in the controller. However the build quality must be better than dualshock 4. I dont want to be hearing about joystick drifting issues soon after launch
i don't need any extra controllers. i am getting the pulse headset for sure.
The headset is cheaper than I thought, so there's that.
So the controller can be the same in dollars and euros but not the games?
Expected when i saw game prices increased too.
Gaming aint cheap. Set aside $1000 if you want the full PS5 experience (assuming you have a 4K TV)
Is it really too much to ask that you quote the UK price as well? Since when did this site become so US Centric?
@brewersteve IKR? I only clicked the link to find out the price in sterling!
@brewersteve Totally agree.
@theheadofabroom thanks for the sarcastic comment. Very helpful. As a gaming news website they are failing if I have to leave the site to get the full story.
Not a shock. However, given that the quality of the controllers for the PS3 and PS4 sold near the end of their lifespan is far lower than the ones sold at the start, I might end up buying two more of the things and just storing them away until I need them.
I've only been getting about a year out of the last two DS4s that I bought, while I got about five years out of the two I got at launch.
@Unlucky13 Same here, my launch Dual Shock 4 is still fine although the PS4 console has some issues (random disc ejection, brief HDMI blackouts and high level of noise).
@Netret0120
This is what i have done all saved up ready
Yeah, see, this is what happens when you load up a controller with gimmicky tech. Same reason Nintendo's controllers are outrageously priced.
@Ralizah These gimmicks are made more apparent, since we now know,that some of the games coming to ps5 are cross gen,hence those controller 'features' ,can not be implemented in the core gameplay of those games ,in fear of disrupting the experience on ps4.
@Ralizah @rachetmarvel I agree.
Damn... more expensive games, more expensive controllers... is this how they recoup the losses of selling the console cheaper? Because I would rather pay $600 for the console up front...
@rachetmarvel I mean, do you REALLY want the game to require you blow air at them to, I don't know, blow dirt off the walls in a tomb or something?
I've always hated these gimmicks unless they are naturally integrated in the game like rumble. The rumble of DualShock 4 is rubbish so good thing that they have upgraded it. The other features won't mean a thing for 99% of the games. What have they done with the DualShock 4 touch panel or motion controls or light bar? (I don't have PS4 VR)
I just ordered a dual sense for £50 from Smyth's. I think it might be a mistake on their part. Don't tell them though 😉
I hope the battery is good, at least 20 hours or better, 30 hours like ps3 dualshock. Plan to buy pulse 3D headset to hear all those sweet 3D sound 😃
@brewersteve I was agreeing with you, no sarcasm intended
Thankfully I never buy controllers at full price, always wait for the 50% off sales .
